Edging Guidelines
Dec. Lenses: Edging & Glazing

    Suitable decentred lens
  • choose the right lens depending on wrap frame angle (WFA).

    Alignment
  • align the lens with the square tag to Nasal;
  • the 0-180 axis of the lens should align with the 0-180 axis of the frame;
  • do NOT rotate the lens in the frame.

    Horizontal Placement
  • fit the Geometrical centre horizontally at the pupil centre;
  • for low WFA you can shift the lens horizontally toward the nasal side;
  • for high WFA you can shift the lens horizontally toward the temporal side.

    Vertical Placement
  • position the lens vertically with the Geometrical centre or 0-180 axis at a typical pupil height for the frame.

Polarization: edging & glazing

    Alignment
  • align the 0-180 axis of the lens with the 1-180 axis of the frame;
  • for decentered lenses align the lens with the biggest tag to Nasal;
  • do NOT rotate the lens in the frame.

    Bevel
  • try to keep the bevel in the center of the edge of the lens;
  • avoid negative bevel (permitted on Injected Pol. PC);
  • avoid stress to the lens with smooth or inappropriate cutters;
  • use a convenient cutter speed rotation and feed motion.

    Checking
  • use a polarizer for the determination of the axis of polarization;
  • the axis of the lenses should be aligned with the horizontal axis of the oculars
